Moreno Valley woman died in fatal Ramona Expressway crash in Perris

A speeding SUV that experienced a red light at the crossing point of Ramona Expressway and Evans Road in Perris on Wednesday morning struck a vehicle and killed the Moreno Valley lady who was driving it, the California Highway Patrol said.

She was distinguished Thursday as Patricia Workman, 55, who passed on at the crossing point, the Riverside County Coroner’s office said.

The speeding dark 2005 Nissan Xterra was going eastward on the freeway just before 8:30 a.m. at the point when it ran the red light and struck the Toyota Camry driven by Workman, who was traveling north on Evans, CHP Officer Juan Quintero said.

The power of the effect impelled the two vehicles into the westward paths of the turnpike, Quintero said.

The two vehicles struck a 2014 Chevrolet van. The driver of the van endured minor wounds. An understudy inside the van, who was being shipped to the California School for the Deaf in Riverside, was not harmed, the CHP report said.

The driver of the Nissan, recognized by the CHP as 29-year-old Misael Avalos Castaneda of Perris, fled by walking after the mishap and was captured by Riverside County Sheriff’s delegates, Quintero said. Castaneda was hospitalized with significant wounds and is under scrutiny for vehicular crime, Quintero included.
